and then it hit me

After my last night playing music w/ my monday night old-time music group I sent them the e-mail below
Jules, Kate, Teresa & Charlie,
I was up early this morning walking around a quiet house and it started sinking in. I'm really going to miss you. The monday night music thing has been really great.I don't want to beat it to death, I'm horrible at good byes... I could have just as well gone outside to piss and got in my car and left.
this whole trip preparation has been focused on where we are going and this morning i got whamed with what we are leaving...at any rate I deeply value the hours and tunes I've share w/ you... you know its been good when its tough to say good-bye.

And charlie responded:
Tom,

> Be sure to let me know if there's anything needs doing around here.

hesitent? redy?

"im sick of this school, im sick of this town" i thought a few months ago when school and the rest of my life was borring me to deth, but now as my time in homer comes down to just days im a little more hesitent. ever time i lay in our lush lawn or look out at the mountians acoss the bay i apretait it more and more. this is where im from, this is my town, this is my land, theese arey my friends, this place macks up so much of what i am. it will just be hard leaving every thing i know, every thing i love to go some where i know nothing about and try to talk to people in a launge i don't speak. it will just be hard... thats all...but i'm up for the challenge...i guss.
well, that's what i think of this crazieness

a blunt blog

I never really understood or participated in any blogs... and here our family has one. Interesting. If you are actually reading about our family I hope it is only because you are sick in bed and can't think of anything else to do. If you are not sick, I encourage you to star in your own movie and not spend anymore time reading about someone else's adventures but put your energy into your own. Good luck.I guess thats about all I have to say right now. I hope its ok to be so blunt on a blog. Catie, the mom.( Photo of Cate at her fishcamp cabin in Pilot Point)

In the begining

Its a gray and calm morning about 4:15 and my brain is swimming with all that ahead. This is my last week in Homer and with preparations for fishcamp and getting ready to rent the house and leave for a year... I drop it all and start this deal. Dan Patterson who I fished herring with the last two seasons on the Namorada encouraged me to do this...I'm not sure what will come of the blog but ... "its the first step" My hope is that Cate and the girls chime in and it becomes a group effort.
